Milliman IntelliScript Report

How to Request Your Milliman IntelliScript Report

Milliman IntelliScript is a nationwide specialty consumer reporting agency owned by the global actuarial consulting firm Milliman, Inc. IntelliScript provides risk assessment for the insurance industry. When consumers apply for life, health, disability, or long-term care insurance, insurance companies use an IntelliScript report product to quickly pull and analyze their prescription drug records and health histories to decide whether to approve coverage.

(1) More Information about the IntelliScript Report

To build these prescription history reports, IntelliScript collects personal medication details with an applicant’s written consent. Through its Irix Prescription Data service, the company connects directly to pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and nationwide retail or mail-order pharmacies. The report collects specific details such as drug names, fill and refill dates, dosage levels, prescribing doctor specialties, and probable medical conditions linked to those prescriptions. IntelliScript can also pull medical claims, electronic health records (EHR), and public court or criminal data into its reports.

The primary customers who purchase Milliman IntelliScript reports are insurance underwriters and risk assessment teams. This includes life insurance companies, health insurers, long-term care (LTC) providers, and Medicare Supplement carriers. These insurers buy IntelliScript reports to confirm an applicant’s health statements, identify unmentioned medical conditions, and speed up policy approvals without needing expensive home medical exams or blood tests.

(2) More Information about the Irix Risk Score

According to the Milliman and IntelliScript corporate websites, the company sells specialized risk scoring models built directly into its software platform, known as the Irix Rules Engine. Rather than selling a standard credit score, IntelliScript uses proprietary algorithms to convert prescription and medical data into numerical insurance risk scores:

  • Irix Risk Score (Mortality): A predictive scoring model for life insurance that measures an applicant’s relative risk of early death. It uses machine learning to evaluate prescription data, medical claims, or traditional credit attributes to assign a single risk score to each applicant.
  • Irix Risk Score (Morbidity & LTC): Specialized scoring models designed for health, Medicare Supplement, and long-term care insurance. These algorithms score an applicant’s likelihood of illness, hospitalization, or needing nursing care based on their medication and health history.

The Irix Risk Score operates on a relative numerical scale:

  • Scale Range: Scores typically fall within a range between 0.0 and 10.0 (or indexed tiers depending on the specific product line).
  • Risk Direction: A lower score represents a healthier applicant with a lower relative risk of early death (mortality) or illness (morbidity). A higher score indicates higher relative risk.
  • Demographic Neutrality: The algorithm tests for age and gender neutrality to ensure that a higher score for an applicant strictly correlates to a higher relative risk tier within their specific demographic group.

In addition, Milliman tailors the Irix Risk Score algorithm specifically to the line of business being underwritten:

  • Irix Risk Score (Mortality): Used for life insurance applications. It predicts mortality risk to help life insurers decide whether an applicant can be approved automatically through “fluid-less” accelerated underwriting (skipping physical medical exams and blood draws).
  • Irix Risk Score (Morbidity): Used for Medicare Supplement and individual health insurance products to predict likelihood of disease, doctor visits, or hospitalization.
  • Irix Risk Score (LTC): Built on historical data from Milliman’s Long-Term Care Advanced Risk Analytics (Milliman LARA), this score measures the probability that an applicant will require nursing home care or home health care assistance.

(3) Request an IntelliScript Report by Telephone, Email, or Mail

(5) Dispute Errors in Your IntelliScript Report

If you find information in your consumer report that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete, you may have the legal right to dispute the report’s content with the consumer reporting company and the company that shared the information to the reporting company. Under federal law, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), companies must conduct a reasonable investigation of your dispute. The company that provided the incorrect information must correct the error, and notify every consumer reporting company to whom it provided the inaccurate information.
